Dr. Bennett graduated from the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1988 and then completed a one year rotating internship in medicine and surgery at VCA West Los Angeles Veterinary Medical Group. She then completed a three year surgery residency at the Animal Medical Center (AMC) in New York. Dr. Bennett became board certified in surgery in 1995. Dr. Bennett joined the staff at VCA South Shore Animal Hospital in 1992 as a small animal surgeon. She was medical director from December 1999 to August 2000 and director of surgical services from 1999-2001. In 2001 Dr. Bennett joined the staff of the New England Medical Center as our Chief of Surgery.

Dr. Bennett has published articles on peritoneal-pericardial diaphragmatic hernias, oral cancer and fractures of the mandible and maxilla. Her interests include reconstructive surgery, oncologic surgery, thoracic surgery and fracture repair. She is currently involved in a project investigating the treatment of spinal trauma using tissue engineering to create cells that repair spinal tissue in cases of complete paralysis or paresis.
